Dokobit switches to Smart-ID+ for digital document signing

The international e-signing platform Dokobit – a product of the Norwegian digital identity specialist Signicat – has added Smart-ID+ as a new authentication method in Belgium. Dokobit users were already familiar with signing documents using Smart-ID, but the process has now become even more convenient. Users can now identify themselves more easily via a QR code and their PIN. Dokobit is one of the first tools in Belgium to actively offer Smart-ID+ for secure online identification.

By using Smart-ID+, Dokobit combines ease of use with a high level of security. Smart-ID relies on modern cryptography and QR-based flow offers a stronger protection against phishing and fraud. As users need to sign certificates during the onboarding process, they are automatically enabled to electronically sign documents on the Dokobit platform.

First steps in Belgium, government to follow

With this integration, Dokobit positions itself among the frontrunners in the Belgian market. Smart-ID recently received the government-issued Level of Assurance High label and will soon be added to CSAM, the digital identification platform that provides access to Belgian government services. As a result, Belgian citizens will soon be able to use Smart-ID for daily authentications, once the technical integrations are completed.

Dokobit’s integration of Smart-ID+ therefore aligns with a broader movement toward greater choice and interoperability in digital identities, alongside existing solutions.

Three free signatures per month via Dokobit

Through the platform’s freemium version, users can digitally sign up to three documents per month free of charge. This allows companies and self-employed professionals in Belgium to easily get started with secure and legally valid e-signing using Dokobit and Smart-ID.
